those who speak out of turn, ambassador or not, will find themselves cut off from support (with or without a capital S)...peek the top - a reading of the ACTUAL TOS exhibits NO SUCH BAN.
whatever little power or entrapment game is going on (are they trying to set us up with our image sites?), it is not high enough up the chain of command to have made it into the Terms.
go hit the Missing Links and have some fun...it's still here, where it's always been - made by members for one another.

I'm on my way now! :oP But first, Image Shack answered my email, and promptly too, who knew? haha They told me I could use their direct links with whatever code is necessary to display my pictures. I don't know whether to be happy or more irritated because they didn't address the part of my email where I told them what FMJ is doing. Then perhaps they'll address the source of the stupidity directly. *shrug*

And it is interesting that there's nothing that can be found anywhere that could even be construed as "official" re: this new "rule." Oh well, I'm done beating my head against the wall over it.

I just know that when I'm up for it, I'll put my profile back together so I can actually enjoy it when I stop in. These days, I mostly use the m.fp.

Well, I'm off to have some fun for a change. See ya's later! :oD

i am beginning to think the onsite Admin are running wild behind the real Power's backs...this could become VERY interesting.

I enjoyed Miss-X-Tine's comment in one of the deleted posts about the new changes stating that it was Corie's 'interpretation' of the TOS is that no offsite links are to be posted in any way, shape or form including via gifts or messages.

Whoever the real powers that be are, I hope they're prepared for the oncoming storm that appears to be brewing.

GOLD RUSH said...

yes, i (in the guise of Canaan) just finished gently - and "legally", lol - tweaking both X and shorti in the new (Trading Post, X) and older (shorti, ChitChat) threads...as on X's i posted an annotated copy of the TOS clickable from Corie's post, the resultant fireworks ought to be interesting...
a post of XTINE'S got deleted? tell me more...

Mischief Kitty said...

I can't remember who started the thread but XTINE just replied to it...it lasted a few hours and then the whole thread *poofed*

Born2CanaanCatHaven said...

the whole thread, eh? ...sounds like someone pulled Xtine's tail for talking out of school...

Only accounts that amassed huge amounts of FD's were suspended/banned? Good thing I saved the email from FooKate apologizing for my account being suspended over the art scandal that I didn't take part in.

GOLD RUSH said...

very good indeed...and we'd love to see a copy. This ties not only into the transaction levels claimed, but their contention that no one who didn't use the scam was banned or suspended. Documentation is a wonderful thing...
(if you go to Operation Lifeboat on WordPress you can get my email info.)

Mischief Kitty said...

Emailing it to you now :)

GOLD RUSH said...

got it, thanks!
once we are out from under the current Work-To-Adopt scandal, we will be opening the Art Submission can of worms very wide indeed...

i started a "test account" a couple of days ago...what it looks like they're doing - and this shows more cleverness than i gave them credit for - is, instead of freezing the logons for the accounts created through the pet shop, they are leaving them locked in to that mode until they either break down and buy ClubFoo or go away in disgust...in either case, FooMojo sees themselves as coming out ahead : they keep the "warm body" accounts to show numbers, get the logon time for their site stats, and who knows, the person may find a way to give them the money they're sweating them for. it's a brilliant, evil little solution. if i weren't so furious about the attitude it reflects, i'd give them a round of applause.

I see that they've changed the main log-in page graphics along with some of the graphics on the play page (with the flash animation). I have access to a non-club account that has been on site for well over a year and a half and it still can be accessed as of tonight with no problems. Hopefully, those with non-club accounts will be able to keep them as such - if not, I know many people (children and adults alike) that won't be able to get Club and would be devastated if they lost the pets on their currently non-club accounts.

I'm really confused and was hoping for an answer here. The past few weeks all I've bothered to do is log in when I climb out of bed in the afternoon, boost my bond with my Foos, and log off. I'm still a CF member, although Idk why. So I've got tons of FDs at the moment.

What I want to know is that, in light of all the unannounced (like that's anything new) changes re: membership, if and most likely when, I cancel my CF membership, am I going to get the boot? Is FPs now a strictly pay to play site? Can those who DO join now cancel their CF membership and still remain members?

Idk wth is going on and I don't have the patience to screw with the forums seeing as they treat me like dirt in there anyway.

As I cannot stand FooPets anymore, and spend as little time there as humanly possible, I've been searching far and wide for another game to fill my time. I'm disabled and somewhat agoraphobic so I NEED something to fill my time.

Also, I've heard rumors that they're taking our FDs for whatever reasons they have. I've felt I've been wasting my piddly little SSI check on this site for some time now anyway. But if all the FDs I've saved over the past few months is subject to being taken back, then.... Well... Idk.

Anyone?

Thanks.

Dae, my understanding is that it is only those accounts who had not yet earned a pet in the adoption center that are being locked out.

I know how you feel about being unable to stand it there. I login to the site, care for my pets and logout -- though tonight I haven't even been able to do that as I get "Error 500-Internal Error" or just plain "invalid" on every page I try to access past the login page.

Maybe this time they literally broke FooPets.

GOLD RUSH said...

Dae, so far (and we heard this from someone in a position to know, when we asked on behalf of a youngster heartbroken at being told that the account and pets they have had since 11/9/09 were going to be hit by this travesty), there is no indication that established accounts will be affected.
there was a glitch (big surprise, around here) that caused the Buy-or-Die email to get pasted to anything send out in the noreply mode (flea notices etc), which caused a vast amount of panic and exacerbated an already intolerable situation.

MK, they were apparently inputting the new lock-out code last night, which no doubt caused the error messages, as their tinkering usually does. hopefully this new add-on won't bugger up existing coding - but i ain't optimistic, lol.

please, folks - enjoy our and others' member-organized activities, and try to cope with the mess Foo is currently making of the site...we ARE trying to work on it, and if there's anything else we can do to make things easier to bear, let us know and we'll go to town on it.

Mischief Kitty said...

I'm kind of disappointed that I don't get the Glove when the play page finally loaded...I just get my cursor arrow :(

Born2CanaanCatHaven said...

you are kidding - HOW? quick, tell me how! that thing's been driving me crazy since some genius stuck it in there without fixing the lag first!

Mischief Kitty said...

It could be because I'm using Firefox. On IE the play page doesn't load.

Dae.Dreamer said...

Btw, I never received any emails at all from foo. So what is the email all about? I get more apathetic and more confused every day by this site. I wish I wasn't so attached or is it just crazy, so I could just hit delete and move on.

Mischief Kitty said...

You have to have your preferences set to receive emails when your pets are hungry, have fleas, when the FooPetter comes out, etc. Foo saw fit to tack on the bit about locking out accounts that don't have CF to all of those routine emails. If you aren't getting the emails you aren't really missing much, I'm just too lazy to go into my preferences and change it.

BTW, you should check out SuperPoke! Pets if you're interested in an another site with pets and the ability to socialize. There are several former Foo'ers over there and while it is definitely not the realistic virtual pet that Foo aimed for (mine is a pink dragon with red hearts and purple wings) it is a lot of fun. There are clubs you can join, quests that you can do to earn cool prizes to decorate the habitat...in fact I just posted to my blog about all the things that SPP does RIGHT.

GOLD RUSH said...

i have emails on some accounts set so, and still didn't get any...i guess Foo doesn't love me any more (sob)...or they don't want to give me any ammunition.

another really enjoyable site is MagiStream - i've been there a while, the people (including the ones who run it, who are active on site helping and joking) are great, and they not only allow but encourage you to be as creative and involved as possible - for free.

Dae.Dreamer said...

Yup, I forgot about my preferences. lol But thanks ya'll. I'll give those sites a look see soon as I feel up to it. On top of this dark depression I've been fighting, I'm coming down with something. Ugh.

Now the FooMart is releasing "new" items that are actually recycled items released in previous years. Perhaps this is Foo's way to end paying the 10% commission on each sale to the artist -- simply re-release the item as 'new' even though several of us already own it.

Read the Spyglass for info. on the new official CEO at Foo: http://foospyglass.wordpress.com/2011/02/15/theres-a-new-kid-in-town/

I have a sneaky suspicion we just learned the face of the man behind all the recent changes at Foo...

I haven't been blocked or had anything stolen from me, but I feel abused, walking on eggshells, lying low for fear of instant retaliation against some infraction that I never could have imagined, much less intended. As far as I know, I've been a model member. But it seems it makes no difference when the rules can change instantly. What can we do to make this a sane, healthy place to play?

GOLD RUSH said...

well, we had Janasov's number - and his address - a while back...and are in the process of calling his hand. the business proposal we have been working on at Lifeboat is as ready as it's going to get, i think, and planned to go out next Monday.

Update: Posted in the ClubFoo forum by new Admin EAB1-

“Hi, FooPetters!

Thanks for all your feedback regarding our changes to the FooMart. We’ve heard you and we are happy to make the adjustments you’ve requested. In order to keep your FooPets fed and happy, pet food costs will be lowered shortly. Be on the lookout for the changes. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Thanks!
The FooPets Team”

I’ll believe it when I see it – and that probably just means the cost of something else will go up. How typical. But maybe they’re actually trying to listen to the customers? But posting their “announcement” in the ClubFoo forum wasn’t too smart – many users don’t have access to that crap forum.
Peach :o )~
PS - it seems that the big portion is at 700FGs (still 100FGs higher than it originally was)

eatapeach55 said...

Another Update: It seems that the prices on the flea-meds have gone down too. Maybe Foo is finally listening? Maybe they finally lost enough members (paying) to put a dent in their bottom line and they're changing their ways?? We can only hope!

EAB1, eh? have to go track that down...for folks preoccupied with money, basic math has never been their strong point.

this time they kind of outsmarted themselves - i would have been happy to accept an increase to 700 or even 800, which would put food as break-even, without all the trickery and dodges, and the new decreased increase remaining on the flea meds is proportionate as well...though still billed as a "sale" the last i saw, and therefore retractible.
pity they could not have simply done it this way to begin with - all they bought themselves with the game-playing was another helping of ill-will...

perhaps they figure that people who didn't happen to notice the temporary robbery may never notice if they tuck the announcement somewhere discreet...though positioning important notices in odd and obscure places does seem to be a hobby of theirs.

GOLD RUSH said...

NOTE: either they stuck it in both places, or had a brainwave and put it up in Announcements afterward where it belongs.

trail of breadcrumbs from EAB1 led in a couple of interesting directions - more later.
